Week 8 Do now

Topic: Matariki (Maori New year) should be a public holiday I agree that we should have a public holiday for Matariki because people would want to share their Maori culture with the Maori language week   The reason why I think that it is a good idea to have it because people would want to share their culture and people from other countries wouldn't know what Matariki is so they know what Matariki is. For example, if you are someone from a different country

week 8 do now

Topic: English is the most important subject to learn In school. I disagree that English is important to learn in school because if you don't do English you won't know how to spell big words in the future. The reason is that if you do English you will know how to spell and know how to say big words and that's why you need to do English in school.

HORNBY 2050

Hello everyone welcome to my blog

We all have been looking, Hornby 2050 and what can make it a better place in those years. We are making a project, our project is a self-powered blender for our kete, and the reason we are making a self-powered blender is that we can save electricity instead of paying bills. If there is a power cut out, how are you meant to use the blender so that's why we are making a self-powered blender we can save electricity and some countries are struggling like Mozambique is struggling with low power, and basically no water to survive on. We need wood, a pump, metal, plastic, a bit of tubing, to make a full-sized blender.

thank you

wait there's more this is my mini 3D sketch

Chromeatography

Today in science we are doing an experiment called chromatography  Pigments are substances that give color to things. They are used to give color to all sorts of things like felts, paint, plastic, food, fabric, even animals and plants.

Chromatography is a technique for separating a mixture by passing it in solution or suspension through a medium in which the components move at different rates

Pigment: the natural coloring matter of animal or plant tissue.

AIM- To separate the different pigments from ink using chromatography

HYPOTHESIS- I think that the paper will change color and their ink will go high on the paper

EQUIPMENT- Felt tip pen, filter paper strips, test tube, measuring cylinder, pencil.

1- Draw a line across the filter paper in pencil, 5cm from the bottom.

2- Draw a colored dot in the center of the line.

3- Measure out 10mL of water and place it in the test tube.

4- Place the filter paper in the test tube and fold it over the side. MAKE SURE THE PENCIL LINE/ DOT IS NOT IN THE WATER.

The pigments separate because each pigment has a different solubility (some dissolve more than others), which means some of them to move faster and further than others.

My sewing project

for my sewing project I made a sewing project, it is a holder for everything

Do now week 6

I agree that everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand should be allowed to vote. I think that at the age of 17 should be able to vote but then some people will be silly about who they are voting for and they also might not have a reason. The reason I think that people over the age of 17 should be able to vote is that we will make good choices.

Mother Teresa

today in English we have been learning about mother Teresa what I learned about mother Teresa was she joined the Sisters of Loreto when she was eighteen and during her train trip she got a call from God and God said to Mother Teresa to leave school and go to work with the poor and the sick people and the disadvantage slums of Calcutta and she won a noble prize and she didn't take it

week 6 do now

Topic: your name is important part of who you are I agree because people will be able to know who you are.The reason why you should have a name is that so you can show yourself off and people won't think your just a random stranger and you can introduce yourself and say like hi my name is Jessie nice to meet you

Evaporation

today in chemistry we are learning about evaporation distillation and condensation we are going to be doing an experiment next lesson and for the experiment, we are going to distillation and how it works

The three main things we will be doing for chemistry

-Evaporating

-Condensing

-Distillation

State of the matter:

S-  solid        L- liquid       G- gas

"What is Evaporation"

Evaporation is when a substance gets heated up and turns from a liquid into a gas

"What is Condensation"

turning gas into a liquid by cooling it down

Evaporation is when a liquid turns into a gas.

We can separate a solution, by evaporating away the solvent to leave a solute (solid).

But what if we want to collect gas??

When we trap the gas and turn it back into a liquid this is called condensation.

"What is Distillation"

Distillation is the scientific experiment used to show the processes of evaporation and condensation.

Note: on the next slide it says to use seawater but we are going to use different types of coke. After evaporating off and then condensing back down the water, we can see how much sugar is actually in normal coke/ diet/ zero.

hypothesis: I think the original coke will have a lot of sugar I think all the liquid will evaporate the other cokes will only half evaporate

Conclusion: the normal coke had a lot more sugar than the sugar-free coke

Discussion: for evaporating we turned a liquid into a gas using heat the coke had more sugar bc I read the back of the bottle and the coke a 14 grams of sugar than the sugar-free coke had no sugar.

Temurea Morrison Essay

today in English we were doing an essay about a celebrity and we have been doing it since week three here is my essay about my celebrity.

In 2005, Temuera Morrison became the host of the talk show The Tem Show on New Zealand television. In the 1996 Queen's Birthday Honours, temuera Morrison was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to drama. He got the new Zealand order of merit temuera Morrison is pleased that its science-fiction rather than salsa, fantasy rather than the foxtrot, is putting him back in the limelight. temurea Morrison is just pleased to be back in the limelight. The 57-year old Kiwi acting icon is back on screens this weekend in the Aussie low-budget alien invasion actioner Occupation, but that's just a taster before we see him play Jason Momoa's Dad and Nicole Kidman's lover in the DC Extended Universe. Blockbuster Aquaman in the summer. Speaking to me while in the middle of a gym workout It's chest and back day," he proudly announces the offbeat and upbeat temuera Morrison, who also achieved Hollywood fame by starring in the likes of Barb Wire, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, and Green Lantern, says he enjoys both genres because "there are no rules".He admits though he was initially a little unsure about Occupation and writer/director. Luke Sparke was in Australia promoting another sci-fi movie that nobody saw called The Osiris Project when temurea Morrison met with him Sparke. He was a huge Star Wars nut, one of those guys that collect Star Wars stuff. My character Jango was one of his favorites growing up. I even thought this was a distraction while he was trying to make something else."However, it was at this time last year and pretty chilly here, but the Gold Coast [where it was going to be filmed] has such a nice climate, plus I got to have a bit of a run around as well. And I'm always just trying to make the most of these opportunities and keep away from Dancing With the Stars before launching off on the first of many. Tangents Some time ago, back in the original days, I was approached about being in a reality competition. I did say that I would do the show, 'if you can guarantee I win 'No, we can't do that,' they said. It's all good it was ages ago and I'm just joking it gets huge ratings. As temurea Morrison has shown throughout more than three decades on movie and television screens, he's never been afraid of mixing it up. There was his frightening and inspiring turn as Jake "the Muss" Heke in Once Were Warriors, the memorable Dr. Hone Ropata in the initial years of Shortland Street, 2005 talk show The Tem Show, short-lived variety program Happy Hour, and even a 2013 reality series ambitiously titled The Life and Times of Temuera Morrison.

week 5 do now

Is the principal is the most important person in the school? I don't agree because I think that if some kids do something wrong there's nothing the principal can do and there is always a problem with like fights

shark infested custard

Hello today in health we were doing shark-infested custard witch means we had three hula hoops and we worked as a team to get across  What IP skills did I use? I used my Active listening IP skill. Did I use warm fuzzies? I didn’t use heaps of warm fuzzies I used it once or twice by saying that it's is Nice job. How did I show Active listening by listening to the other team members? How did my IP skills help with my success, well Active listening is a necessity to help get others' ideas to you I work well with Ashton, Nici Hayley, Isaac, Nevaeh, Jessie If was to do it again I would change the way I would communicate more instead of being mad.

Concentration and Dilution

In today's blog, we are doing an experiment about Concentration and Dilution in this period.

Concentration is a measure of how much solute has been dissolved into the solvent in other words- how much solute there is in the solution we can measure in two ways how to dilute something is (how weak it is) how concentration something is (how strong it is) Making something less concentrated There will be fewer particles in the liquid Serial dilute

AIM: To make a dilution series to investigate the concentration

HYPOTHISSES: I think that it will go clear

EQUIPMENT: A potassium permanganate crystal, six large test tubes, tweezers, a plastic transfer, pipette, a test tube rack, 10ml measuring cylinder

METHOD:

OBSERVATION: it changed color into different purples

DISCUSSION: when we put the chemical in the first test-tube it went dark purple and in the other test tube went lighter.

filtration

Today in science we are doing a little experiment about filtering I will tell you about what we are going to do. (Filtering is separating differently sized particles out of a mixture.) the things that we will need to do in this experiment are making a mixture then separate it. today's experiment will be on liquids that we will be separating

I think that the liquids will change color

the liquid is called

Copper sulfate

is light blue

Transparent

liquid

the second liquid is called

(Sodium carbonate.)

(Colorless.)

(Liquid.)

(Transparent.)

(Beaker.)

(Funnel.)

(Filter paper.)

(Conical flask.)

(Filtrate.)

Method:

1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.

2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate.

3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel

4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask.

5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel.

6. Observe what happened.

the Observetion

the liquids changed colour when the liquid filterd through and it changed colour when the liquids came together In conclusion, I saw when we mixed the two chemicals together they went a darker blue and cloudy, when we put it through the filter it turned clear the blue got let at the top.
