Six Photographs

What was the main message of this story?
Photos tell us about our history and we learn from that.


The journal article looks at 6 different photos throughout NZ history. Re-read the paragraphs which match each photo and share 1 interesting fact for each photograph that you learned.

PICTURE 5         TURNING BUSH INTO BUTTER

What is the first thing you notice in the photo?
The cows.

Why do you think the photo was taken?
 To show their work.

What clues tell you how old the photo might be?
The colors.

If there are people, what are they doing?
Milking the cow.

What can you see in the background?
Trees with no leaves.

What do you think is going on just outside the frame?
The other people milking other cows

What do you think happened before and after the photo?
I think they were getting ready to go out for dinner and then after the photo was taken they got killed at the end!!!

Growth mindset vs Fixed mindset

Hi there i will be telling u about a growth mindset vs fixed mindset.


What is a fixed mindset?
Fixed mindset is were students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just fixed traits.

What is a growth mindset?
Growth mindset is were students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence.

Here are some examples

  1.  Acknowledge and embrace imperfections.
  2. View challenges as opportunities. 
  3. Try different learning tactics. 
  4. Follow the research on brain plasticity. 
  5. Replace the word “failing” with the word learning.
  6. Stop seeking approval. 
  7. Value the process over the end result. 
  8. Cultivate a sense of purpose.
